I am not falling-- tumbling through
acrimonious stages of paranoia
meets depression meets all
those things I’ll never reach,

and it’s a quiet green thread that sews
these calloused palms to the gravitation
of your solidarity; dreams revolving
slowly around the circumference
of stranger stars, on their backs
sighing liquored lullabies and drifting
down to sleep.

there are few things in this life
which I know to be real when
I still cry out at night from the phantoms
tearing through my chest, but you are

the sun rising at 3 AM on a
sleepy Wednesday morning and the
last wish birthed on wanting lips and
the persistent anchor, weighing in reverse,
dragging my sunken body out of all this

wreckage: a fresh breath, it is spring
and the air is born again and I am
an inequality of more than I was
yesterday and less than I’ll be tomorrow,
and a contradiction, too, a passerby
in the inevitabilities of my own life
watching, slowly, my ascension to grace
and the subtle beauty of the mirror
changing faces.

you will not know how much you have
given me, the ability to breathe and
the silver lining of a starry night and
most importantly, me.

I am not falling.
Sometimes
-people are colors (green)
-I can actually write a nice dedication

title is awkward. suggestions are welcome.

This is so lovely. I love your writing - it's so rich and multi-layered and yet contains some really simple, beautiful ideas.

I really like that second stanza. Lovely stuff, Ms. Maddie.
I'll tell ya, there aren't a whole lot of people that are so tolerant of introspection, and even less that can write about it without sounding self-absorbed. You're lovely, and I adore your modest openness.

Well, if you find yourself in danger of falling, make sure to grab a parachute.

On a more serious note, I love this. The title seems perfectly all right to me. The first stanza really hit me, because I know every word of the whole "paranoia meets depression" chorus like I was the one who wrote it. ...well, I do write it. My own.

Anyway. I really like this. A lot. I'll shut up now.

I actually quite like 'Springtime Swandive,' but perhaps that's just me.
I am struggling to comment on this, and perhaps it is because I do not know what sort of comments you like - balanced critical and adoring, or simple love, or in-depth analysis; I am to new to you! - but for sure this is lovely. <3

Apologies for the micro-spamming of a title that will not be used.

I am glad you like it.

I am happier still if there are those in your life about whom you can write such a dedication (even if it is a self dedication).
Wishing for more in your life like this one.

indeed you do write a nice dedication. For a title, what about Plumb bob?

No idea. Sort of a random thought that came to my head. Must be the involvement of lead and the taut string. :la:
