you've a soul of gold,
a feat untold in our
lonely rusted world

you make clouds more
than a fable- you enable beaten down
dreams to finally soar

you have words like oxygen,
necessary to live, treasures
you would readily give

we wish upon them all who try to stand so tall.
in the end, why is it every person seems to fall?
     not you.

I imagine your chest sings
all answers, which your mouth then
tries to translate and share

does your heart grow weighted
or are you really free?
if you're truly so wonderful,
why stick around
with the lost and found?
there's nothing nice to be.

     we're tainted. broken. here,
     backbones hold priority
over silken hands, a steady heartbeat
     and eyes that really see.

those tongues who like the taste
of truth, even freshly born, are
far beyond youth.
you have always been old.

with a mind aged beyond your years,
and a body that has gone far
past its mileage,
in heartbeats and tears.
living among wreckage, you are
forever prevalent.

     there are no directions-
     everything is smoke and mirrors,
     boogie monsters and childish fears.
this is who we've grown to be.

but you are real
rib-crushingly, blindingly
genuine- you bleed, contradicting
other's plastic veins.

and I'm beginning to think,
maybe I was imaginary all along.
because I never felt alive, until
I found out I was wrong.

I'd built a house on the foundation
of stable lies, and it's a surprise
that buried in there might be reality
and some honesty, deep deep down.

you make it clearer with
every undeserved word,
there's something much better than this.
I found out I was wrong.
maybe perfection does exist.
To the person who was able to make me cry from happiness.

Written for #APictureToA1000Words theme of the month contest about perfection.

(On a related note, I can't handle it when people are excessively nice to me. I never know how to react.)

Thank you! It's really small, but another part of the picture is that the little kitty is looking in a mirror and seeing the lion. It thinks very highly of itself :dummy:

This work is beautiful. Your last few works had some portion that I was a bit unsure about but this was really good. I love the concept and how you put it forward. The expressions and rhyming scheme used merge together to form perfection. I love they description given of the person and how you handled different aspects of him.

A wonderful work!

I know. Every time someone is nice to me beyond common courtesy, I almost want to cry, because I feel like I don't deserve their kindness.

I debated trying to write a beautiful reply, something heartfelt and warm, but I'm speechless. You should've already known perfection existed, because you seem to have a knack for spilling it into text. All I can say is you had better win that contest, Maddie. Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to grab some tissues. There's... there's something in my eye. <.<,
