and this is where we bury our hearts,
between self-defeating personality disorders
and burnt bridges and midnight ramblings
we promise ourselves aren’t true;
embedding our memories in forsaken homes
like it is a conscious decision to shed
our wings (reptiles don’t fly)

and maybe I am the monster of every
myth: wide-eyed and jagged toothed and
looking to regain a piece of myself the
world borrowed, many moons ago

as I falter and stumble over my own unaware
feet, wreaking havoc, reeking of self-acquittal--

all I ever wanted to do was belong.

dreams are flaws much like the hearts we
flaunt on our sleeves, and I seem to
have lent all mine away; I am

something entirely ignorant, in the dark,
believing fingers fumbling can find answers.
they never told me reflections are backwards
and the world spins the wrong way and
hurricanes are really an embodiment
of all our own withdrawals:

but one day, these walls will crumble,
and I will learn to breathe in dust.
(goose bumps)

I had writer's block. So the first thing I did was go and read ~featherback's work :meow: this is a tribute to her. She is simply one of the loveliest people alive.

This is a rather interesting work. Since It has been... well long since I commented on your works and knowing that you don't like critiques - I would say that I did understand the general feel of the poem and I like it. The ending was the most well writen part.

Over all a fine poem. keep writing.

WOW, incredible work. So vivid and and I can identify so precisely with the emotive portrait that is painted of a lonely soul. The victory however in outlasting the 'walls' is tremendous yet sad that one would be so lonely that one would have to outlast the walls to obtain victory. I do however understand the modern entrapment and the loneliness. Crazy, crazy stuff, but so true to the heart. Incredible piece of work.

Writers block, heck, your a freakin genius. Absolutely stunning, truly touched the depths of my heart. Well done.

besides structure which to me is really nice - however i am not all that wise to genre or structure

emotionally
this is incredibly grounded, fresh, highly accessible to any reader,  personal to you, i will say [nothing new] meaning accessible yet not kitsch [which is why i said fresh], not self indulgent and a soft anchor without all the eggs in the basket so to speak that you ended on the uplift - not that you needed to.

also this is - personally for my eyes as it reads to me- sings with the the winds of change and yet against the grain of every impulse. delightful alighted and with a weight which does have a strange unseen underground wing.
kudos.

good poetry- writing or anything really elicits something close-ish from others around them.  i am not necessarily a good poet.  i just read your piece again i think it's even richer this time around.  it has a lot of grace hovering about it and throughout which is very nice on the eyes and the eyes go everywhere if one really thinks about it.  even down to the finger or the toe as one walks to the car or down the road they have to walk any given day.  again, kudos and all hoorays.

Oh my fucking revered idolised goddess-figure... my wheezing chest and pounding heart full of make-belief tearjerker phrases cannot possible utter the words to describe how ingenious this is...

'...we bury our hearts,
between self-defeating personality disorders
and burnt bridges and midnight ramblings
we promise ourselves aren't true;'

...do you think there is a parallel universe in which you could fall in love with me? :)
